About Us

In the Fall of 2020, the Greater Salisbury Committee began work on a Diversity and Inclusion initiative to address the disparity in representation of people of color on local Boards of Directors and government commissions. And so, GSC, being true to its mission as a community catalyst, felt compelled to act. GSC was able to reach out to people of color in the Lower Shore area to come together, via Zoom, to discuss this important topic. Collectively, the group of more than 20 black professionals met monthly with one common goal: to establish a network of individuals who would be willing, able, and ready to step up and serve on the Boards of Directors of local non-profits, and to avail themselves for appointments to local county and municipal government commissions.

Along the way, GSC was joined in this effort by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore and the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. This network of individuals stands at the ready to assist community non-profits and governmental partners in bringing about much-needed diversity and inclusion in their ranks as the Lower Shore Black Professionals Alliance (LSBPA)
